On Friday, September 20, 2019 a new exhibition of the Teloglion Foundation of Arts opens at 19.00 with a free public tour, entitled "Gifts of Friendship I ".
Teloglion Foundation, which was established after one of the most important donations in our country, the one by Aliki and Nestor Teloglou, programmatically anticipated general cultural education and a high standard of living. At the early stage of operation, significant donations were attracted (e.g. donations by Tonis and Ioanna Spiteris, DimitriosTsamis, etc.).
In recent years and especially after 2014-15, despite the economic and the general crisis in Greece, donations of artwork to Teloglion Foundation have impressively increased. With its twenty-year opening anniversary nearby, we felt the need to honor our donators, to get to know their “gifts” and who they are. Last five years’ donations – as valuable sample of friendship and appreciation to the Foundation - continue this tradition. Affiliated to the exhibitions’ schedule or not, donations include full collections, large scale collections of artworks by artists or their relatives, artworks from individuals or collectors, as well as smaller donations from numerous good friends and supporters of the Foundation, from our city, Greece or abroad, but also from donators that stimulate the Foundation's work and the dedication to the goals and vision of Teloglou.
The exhibition includes more than 160 works (about 56 donations). Many artworks of this exhibition such as paintings, sculptures, engravings, as well as various artifacts and art forms, are presented to the public for the first time. Despite the diversity and variety of expression that distinguishes them, they converse and relate to each other in a magical way, allowing multiple readings at various levels, thematically, stylistically, morphologically, symbolically, conceptually, revealing a key subconscious path, that of quality and love to human.
The exhibition is under the auspices of the Presidency of the Hellenic Republic and the official opening will be held on October 27, 2019, by His Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos.
